I’m Brad Taylor, founder and head coach at Backcountry Cardio. I’m a competitive marathoner, mountain athlete, and someone who believes that the best version of you is built through consistent work in tough places.

I’ve spent years chasing fast times on the roads and long days in the mountains running 100+ mile weeks, racing marathons in the low 2:20s, and exploring remote basins with a fly rod packed in my vest. Those experiences shaped the foundation of how I coach: simple, effective training built around durability, smart progressions, and a deep respect for the outdoors.
Backcountry Cardio was created for runners and mountain athletes who want more than a generic plan. My coaching is personal, communication is unlimited, and every athlete gets programming that fits their goals whether that’s running a PR, building fitness for backcountry hunts, or tackling big routes at altitude.
